ICAPA COMMUNITY PANTRY PROJECT 2021
by Ms. Diane Oraye
One of the projects organized by the Outreach Committee of the ICA Parent Auxiliary for school year 2021-2022 was the Community Pantry Project. A fund drive was organized from September 20 to 29, 2021 encouraging the parents to give either monetary donations or in-kind. The collected in-kind donations included basic goods such as rice, eggs, biscuits, coffee, milk, noodles, canned goods, and assorted toiletries.
The cash donations were used to purchase additional community pantry goods. From the collected donations, a total of 790 packs were distributed to indigent families in six of our partner Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) under St. John the Baptist Parish, San Juan City namely: BEC Balong Bato, BEC Isabelita, BEC Pedro Cruz, BEC Salapan, BEC St. Joseph, and BEC Tibaga. 360 packs were also given to the ICA community members which consist of the faculty, office and maintenance staff, and the sanitation and security personnel. Some packs were also shared with the M.I.C. Sisters and to the community pantry of Xavier School.
