ICA Holds Its 4 th Athletes’ Night

Last January 31, 2020, ICA hosted its 4 th Annual Athletes’ Night , wherein all our school’s varsity players and teams , gathered altogether in honor of their dedication and hard work to perform their best to represent our school in the various inter school sports competitions. ICA’s Athletic Coordinator, Ms. Haydee Ong, who also introduced the ICA Sports Program in 2017, sought to award the “most valuable player” and the “most improved player” to the students athletes, who were chosen by the coaches of their respective team and sport. The recipients of this year’s MVP awards are : Margaux Beatrice Go (Swimming), Chantelle Chong (Gymnastics), Astrid Sapugay (Basketball), Stefani Alissandra (Table Tennis), Camille Esteban (Volleyball) and Jonelyn Aguinaldo (Badminton). For the MIP awards, they are: Danelle Joy Go (Swimming), Catricia Benipayo (Gymnastics), Heiley Go (Basketball), Leevana Phyllis Chan (Table Tennis), Shannen Clemente (Volleyball) and Joley Yap (Badminton).

Aside from the students, the school also awarded plaques of recognition to our very own , ICA Alumnae Athletes who have participated and won at the recently concluded SEA Games held last November 30- December 11, 2019. The participants are: Jamie Christine Lim ’15 , Gold Medalist at +61 kg Kumitte,; Jacklyn Joyce Chua ’02 and Chari May Ongyanco ’96 Silver Medalists at the 4X4 and 6×6 Underwater Hockey,; Xiandi Chua ’19 winning a silver medal at the Women’s 4×100 meter Freestyle Relay and a Bronze Medal at the 4×200 meter Freestyle Relay; Maxine Esteban ’18 , Bronze Medalist at the Women’s Foil Team and Josephine Mireille Qua ’17 who competed in the Women’s Rowing Event. Appreciation Awards were also given to Ms.Regina Generoso ( HS Student Well- Being ) , Ms. Elaine Ang ( HS Student Activity Coordinator ), Ms. Joan Villamor (ICA PA President) and to Ms. Julie Tan Sy (ICAAA President) for their unwavering support to the ICA Sports Program.

 

The ICAAA Badmintom team , represented by both the ICA Badminton Varsity Team and the Alumnae badminton team , finished as the over-all championship team at the 3 rd FFCAAI (Federation of Fil-Chi Alumni Association, Inc) Badminton Cup held last October 24, 2019 at The Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati. ICAAA VP for Sports, Margaret Koa Cheng ’83 presented the award to our School President, Sr. Irene Ferrer.
