“ReadICA Na Ba?“

Spread the love

By: Ms. Maria Venessa Bernardo

Last July 19, 2018, the HS Department held an Environmental Awareness Day where different
student activities were organized. The Grade 12 students participated in a forum, “Introduction to Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction” where Mr. Erwin Blancaflor, an instructor from Red
Cross, served as resource person. With this forum, all Grade 12 students gained a deeper
understanding of disaster risk and the importance of preparing for calamities. The significance
of early warning systems and basic procedures were also tackled. At the end of the activity, the
students were made aware about hazard mapping and the value of contingency planning in
case of a real disaster.
The forum was in line with “Beat the Plastic Pollution”, ICA’s Environment Week Celebration
that took place last July 16 to 20, 2018.
