Educational Sponsorship Program (ESP)

PURPOSE

To provide opportunity to poor but deserving young Filipinos as a means to cover their financial needs and continue their education in order to have greater opportunity in attaining their aspirations in life and become good and responsible citizens.

 

SERVICES

  • Financial Assistance
    Financial support in the form of student’s school allowance.
  • Values Formation Sessions
    Aims to help both student and their parents develop positive attitudes and habits, have a good perspective in life, increase academic knowledge and social awareness, and deepen their faith in God.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Financial incapability of the family
  • Passing grade
  • Willingness and deep interest to study
  • Supportive parents
  • Elementary graduate

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  1. Open slots for new applicants are announced.
  2. Submission of requirements such as the following:
    • School card
    • Birth certificate
    • Residence certificate
    • Recommendation letter from the school’s guidance counselor
    • 2 pieces 2 x 2 photo
    • Affidavit of income/certificate of employment
    • Filled-up application form
    • Write-up about self and family
  3. IQ and Psychological tests
  4. Home visitation and interview
  5. Assessment of test results and home visit and interview conducted
  6. Selection and finalization of qualified applicants

YEARLY ASSESSMENT

  1. A monthly progress report is submitted every monthly meeting.
  2. School card is submitted a month after the end of every grading period.
  3. All progress reports and the school grades are considered in the renewal of the educational sponsorship of each child.

BASIC OBLIGATIONS OF THE SPONSORED CHILDREN

  1. The student and his/her parent/s must regularly attend all meetings/sessions of the Program.  Sessions usually start at eight o’clock (8:00) a.m. of the scheduled date, with a  “grace period” of ten (10) minutes for late-comers.  Late attendance for the third time is recorded as an absence.
  2. To submit a monthly Progress Report and receipts.
  3. To submit their Quarterly Report Card and/or Class Cards.

    When a Scholar is unable to attend:
    • Notice from the student or their parents is expected to be received prior to the scheduled meeting.
    • An Excuse Letter must be submitted three (3) days after the scheduled meeting.  If the absence of the student is school related, the excuse letter must bear the signature of his/her teacher/professor.
    • All students who have incurred absence regardless of reason have to undergo community service.  Time and date will be scheduled by ICA’S Community Service and Development Center.  Community service may be done inside ICA or at ICA’s partner community, or in their own community.

  4. To submit a Thank You Letter every September and March for those having Sponsors.
  5. Active participation in all activities of the Program.

RELEASE OF ALLOWANCE

  1. A total amount of P__________ (as determined by the Board of the Foundation) is allotted to each sponsored child.  This amount is spread out through a ten (10) month period starting June.  In June, 20% of the total allowance is given to the student, the other 80% divided into the remaining nine months, the allowance in November being bigger than the rest of the nine months.
  2. An acknowledgment of the acceptance of the allowance is made by signing on an acknowledgement receipt.
  3. Receipts are to be submitted the next month
  4. The allowance will not be received by the sponsored student if :
    • The reason for being absent in a Program meeting is not justifiable.
    • The Excuse Letter was not submitted on time.
    • Community service was not served within the two (2) week period after the meeting.

ADDITIONAL POLICIES

  1. Students must be responsible in coordinating with the Foundation regarding activities and schedules of meetings.
  2. Students should always update the Foundation for changes in their personal information.
  3. Students must ensure cleanliness in the different venues in ICA where the simultaneous sessions are held.
  4. Students must be simple in their attire and actions.
  5. Students must always express gratitude and be open to participate in the Foundation’s and ICA-CSDC’s activities.
  6. Students and parents give permission for the Foundation to use their names, pictures and testimonies for inclusion in its publications / website.

REASON FOR TERMINATION

  1. Continuous decline of school grades.
  2. Failure in any school subject.
  3. Three unexcused absences in the monthly meetings.
  4. Three absences of parents in the monthly meetings.
  5. Involvement in anti-social activities like joining in gangs, use of illegal drugs, drinking liquor, etc.
  6. None submission of papers/documents needed for the program.
  7. Failure to do community service four times.
