ICA Greenhills Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (ICAGhSFI)

The Grant-In-Aid (GIA) to students of Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) in Greenhills, San Juan needing financial assistance took place as early as in the 1970.  For a time the school with the support of Chinese family associations took care of the applicants.  In the 80’s, ICA continued to give financial assistance to the students by setting aside small donations of alumnae and friends who came to visit the school.  In the 90’s, particularly in 1994 to 1997 when the Philippine economy was unstable, ICA received more applications for GIA.  However, due to lack of funds, only some high school students especially graduating ones got the solicited help.

Sr. Teresita Canivel, MIC, ICA Directress until 1993, and at the same time financial administrator since 1989, saw the need of establishing a permanent fund for GIA.  Thus, in July 4, 2006,  the ICA Greenhills Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (ICAGhSFI) was established as a non-stock nonprofit SEC-registered corporation.  It was formed with the support and inspiration of ICA alumnae and friends who composed the great majority of the incorporators.

To date, ICAGhSFI has been accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) and registered with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as a tax-exempt organization.  All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by Philippine Laws.   It has also forged a partnership with the Philippine Development Foundation (formerly Ayala Foundation USA), “a public charity registered with the United States Revenue Service as a US Section 501 © 3 tax-exempt organization”, wherein U.S. donations can be coursed through and be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by U.S. Laws.
