The ICA Dramatics Guild (DG) is a co-curricular club that aims to hone the skills and talents of students who are inclined to the field of theatre. This year, they chose to take a break from musicals and staged the most important play in Philippine literature, “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino” written by national artist for literature, Nick Joaquin. Set in the year 1941, it illustrates the lives of the common Filipino people during the war. Last December 13 and 15, 2011, DG staged the play at the MPH1 proving the depth of their talent and making this classic come to life. The DG members poured all their effort into creating this production – from the set, props and costumes to internalizing each character. They successfully captured the hearts of their audience composed of parents, teachers and high school students, making them realize the importance of loving one’s family and, above all, one’s nation.
