Home Community Service HS Parenting Session
HS Parenting Session

The HS Faculty led by its Social Action Committee, designed a training module for the parents of the recipients of the Feeding Program initiated by the Social Action Students Staff (SASS). The module was developed based on the result of the Needs Analysis, which was conducted by the Community Service & Development Center (CSDC) staff last September 11, 2010.

The result of the analysis shows that as parents, they truly aspire to establish a self-reliant family characterized by a dignified living. They all hope to have a steady business/livelihood of their own that is rooted in God, as a source of income thereby making the families’ needs meet while prioritizing the education of their children. Alongside economic stability, they dream to have a peaceful, united and happy family.

The eight-Saturday training module on Responsible Parenting includes basic catechesis, spiritual formation, and livelihood projects. The parenting sessions deal with issues and concerns on family and social relationships, health and nutrition, stewardship, commitment to life, and traditions and practices; all of which are directed towards realizing the rights of the children in the light of the Gospel.

The first session was held last November 13, 2010 at the San Perfecto Elementary School with an overview of the program presented by Ms. Diosallen Virtudazo, the Social Action Committee Head and the session on Parenting, which was facilitated by the Guidance Counselors.

As an initial response to the need to earn additional income the Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH)/Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers raised funds for the parol-making project. They facilitated the workshop last November 20, 2010, providing them a market and sell their finished products to the HS classes through their advisers.

On December 4, 2010, a talk about prayer and Advent was provided. The CLE teachers who stressed the importance of the two in relation to daily life facilitated the talk. Each of the parents was able to make a prayer card while expressing their visions and wishes not just only for their family but for the society as well.
