SOB: Students Opposing Bullying

Spread the love

By: Ms. Jetherine Smile Flogencio

Last July 4, 2018, the Anti-Bullying Program was launched through a forum to present the issue
of bullying in a multidisciplinary approach. The forum entitled “SOB: Students Opposing
Bullying” delved into the nature of bullying, its effects and the approaches to it.

The forum was composed of speakers representing different disciplines. From the Academe
was Mrs. Regina Generoso, ICA’s High School Student Well-Being Supervisor. Dr. Karina
Fernandez, an ICA parent and the Executive Director of the Ateneo Bulatao Center for
Psychological Services also shared her expertise on Mental Health. Lastly, Dr. Jack Alexander
Herrin, also an ICA parent and an active consultant at Cardinal Santos Medical Center
specializing in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, gave his insights as a medical
practitioner.

In collaboration with the Student Council Internal Campaigns Committee, headed by Loise De
Leon, SC VP for ICANS and Jilliana Tumangan, SC AVP for ICANS, through the GEM Movement,
the anti-bullying program envisions ICAns to possess a better understanding of the importance
of their role in the prevention of bullying and their responsibility in creating a bully-free
environment.

The launching of the program is the first of many steps ICA has taken to ensure students that
the school remains to be a home for them.
